About the artist:

Sally Chapman

Sally Chapman is a photographer living in the Boston area. She earned a BFA in ceramics and photography from Michigan State University. For over twenty years she worked as a ceramic artist in Colorado showing extensively in New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Moving to California and Massachusetts her attention went to spiritual pursuits seeing that the desire to create art is the same as the desire for spirit.

The magic of capturing images at night inspired her to begin creating artwork again with the camera. Her photographic subjects are often of the urban landscape and neighborhoods. Recently she has been shown in exhibits at the Cambridge Art Association, Plymouth Center for the Arts, Springfield Art Association in Springfield, IL, Griffin Museum, Barrett Art Center, Fort Collins Lincoln Center, and Photographic Resource Center. She is a member of the Boston Camera Club, and Greater Boston Night Photographers.

This month’s film tells the story of a father and daughter living in the forest off the grid – until society
‘intervenes’ in their idyllic life. Their journey is profound and harrowing and beautiful – and we get to wonder about what makes a home.

“Occasionally uplifting and sometimes heartbreaking, it is nothing less than sublime.”

“It covers difficult ground, but to say it leaves no trace would be a lie. It definitely makes its mark.”

“…is one of the best films of 2018 and promises to make a star of [it’s actors].”

Chad & Anna Kidd will lead the discussion. BYOB. Bring your own beer, wine or soda and experience the places where Pop culture meets our faith. We will watch a current film followed by a discussion about themes of morality, faith, and humanity led by local theologians and community leaders.

This Film Screening and Discussion are free – suggested $10.00 donation is welcomed.

For information about the film title, please email office@sanctuaryucc.org or call 781-395-3360.

About ARTChurch: Inspired by the rich spirituality and deep themes inherent in art, ARTChurch looks at scripture and liturgy through the lens of the art installed in the Gallery at Sanctuary UCC. On the second Sunday of each month, we experience the Holy—and the holy in each other—through the images, colors, themes and creative energies of the installation, the artist’s perspective and that which is seen by the observer.

Messy Church
Jan 27 @ 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Traditional worship services can be hard to enjoy as a family.
That’s why we made Messy Church!

Messy Church is a worship service designed especially for children, ages 0-5, and their parents.

At Messy Church, we sing, we read bible stories, we play games, do crafts, and eat dinner together.

And, even more importantly, we send home with resources to help you keep the conversation about faith and values going!
