We become more compassionate to ourselves and others. \nThis course will introduce you to practices and meditation techniques that cultivate mindfulness in our daily lives. We will explore the benefits of mindfulness to our emotional\, mental\, and physical well-being as well as enhance our interpersonal relationships. \nEach week we will explore how mindfulness helps with key areas in our lives including how to: \n\nCultivate an embodied attention\nWork with strong emotions and manage emotional reactivity\nNavigate thoughts and distractions in meditation\nDevelop the skill of mindful listening and mindful communication\nCultivate kindness and care for ourselves and others\n\nYour teacher is Kate Beers\, a retired clinical social worker and human resources professional. DESCRIPTION:Hear from the Artist about their inspiration and process and join the conversation about your own experience of their creativity. \nBYOB: Bring your own Beer\, Wine\, or Soda to this month’s new art Installation. \nAbout the Artist\nCITY OF GOD is an ongoing documentary project which celebrates the immigrant church in the city of Lynn\, Massachusetts.  As a gateway city with over seventy nations represented\,  Lynn is filled with God\, faith\, and lots of churches.  This project is funded through a pastoral study grant from the Louisville Institute and includes an advisory group of faith leaders from the city. \nSeveral portfolios are in development and include “Sacred Places” which catalogs the architecture of various ethnic congregations and “Public Faith” which documents personal expressions of faith found in Lynn.   A future portfolio will include the personal stories of many of the spiritual leaders here in the city.  You can follow the project on Instagram.  Sacred Places

DESCRIPTION:Gather with your neighbors (and your neighbor’s kids) to share a nosh\, make some art\, and celebrate the Halloween weekend with color! No experience is required!! \nDot art is a really easy painting technique that makes use of dots of color that visually blend together. This mandala technique for abstract art is downright fun – and relaxing. \nWe will have coffee and bagels for this community connecting activity during Fellowship Hour after worship.
