DESCRIPTION:For the past two Sundays\, we have been making room for grief and remembering the people\, places\, and experiences that have shaped us. This week our six-Sunday journey takes another turn. We ask not only what has been lost\, but what remains. \nLoss changes things. Sometimes forever. But even when a person is gone\, a season ends\, or a community prepares to close\, not everything disappears. A phrase someone taught us becomes part of our vocabulary. A kindness changes how we care for others. A community teaches us how to pray\, question\, protest\, forgive\, laugh\, or begin again. Love has a way of leaving fingerprints. \nThis Sunday at Soul Circle we will make space to notice those traces. What has become part of you because someone loved you? DESCRIPTION:There are things we wish we could keep forever: a person we love\, a season of life\, a community that has become sacred to us\, a particular way of being together. Gratitude can sometimes make us want to close our hands around those gifts and say\, Please. Just stay. \nBut perhaps gratitude asks something different. What if being thankful for what has been given does not require us to preserve it unchanged? What if we can cherish an experience\, honor what it has given us\, and allow its form to change without diminishing its worth? \nThis Sunday\, in the fourth movement of our six-week journey\, we move from receiving what remains toward gratitude without grasping. SUMMARY:Sunday Soul Circle: Open Handed Love
DESCRIPTION:For four Sundays\, we have been making room\, remembering\, receiving what remains\, and giving thanks. This Sunday\, our six-week journey turns toward release. \nRelease does not mean forgetting. It does not mean pretending something mattered less than it did. And it does not mean rushing ourselves toward closure. Sometimes release is simply the spiritual practice of opening a hand that has been holding very tightly. In the Gospel of John\, Mary Magdalene recognizes the risen Jesus and reaches toward him\, only to hear: “Do not hold on to me.” Their love has not ended\, but it cannot remain exactly as it was. \nThat feels especially close to us now. As Sanctuary approaches the end of its mission and ministry\, we are not being asked to release what Sanctuary has meant. We are being asked to release our need for Sanctuary to continue being what it has been. This Sunday\, through scripture\, reflection\, embodied prayer\, and conversation\, we will wonder together: What am I being asked to loosen my hold on?
