DESCRIPTION:After Pentecost\, the church enters a long stretch of the year called Ordinary Time. It can sound plain\, almost forgettable\, as if nothing much is happening between the flame of Pentecost and the waiting of Advent. But Ordinary Time is not empty time. It is growing time. It is the green season\, when the Spirit that arrived as wind and fire begins the slower work of taking root in us. \nThis week’s Soul Circle will reflect on the power of the seed growing secretly: scattered into the soil\, hidden from view\, becoming life “we do not know how.” And\, attend to the blessing of holy things that grow slowly\, deeply\, and often unseen before they ever come into bloom. \nTogether\, we will make space to wonder: What is quietly greening in us? DESCRIPTION:This week in Soul Circle\, we will sit with the story of Abram and Sarai in Genesis 12:1–9\, standing at the edge of everything familiar. God says\, “Go\,” but does not hand them a map. They leave land\, kin\, household\, history\, and the only life they have known\, carrying nothing certain except a promise: “I will show you.” \nAs Sanctuary turns toward the closing of 154 years of mission and ministry\, this text meets us with tenderness and truth. It does not ask us to pretend that leaving is easy. It does not rush us past grief. Instead\, it invites us to wonder what it means to leave faithfully\, to remember without clinging\, and to trust that the blessing God has poured through this community is not ending\, but being carried forward in us. \nTogether\, we will make space for grief\, gratitude\, memory\, and blessing. We will ask what we are being invited to release\, what we are being asked to carry\, and how God may still be saying to us\, even now: I will show you. SUMMARY:Sunday Soul Circle: Let Go and Let God
DESCRIPTION:This Sunday in Soul Circle\, we will practice the holy and human work of surrender. Not surrender as defeat. Not surrender as silence. Not surrender as giving up our voice\, our wisdom\, or our agency. But surrender as release: the grace of loosening our grip on what we cannot control\, what we no longer need to carry\, and what may be keeping us from the deeper freedom of God. \nWe will use Judith Orloff’s The Power of Surrender cards as a doorway into reflection and discernment. You are invited to bring a real question to the circle: What am I ready to surrender? What habit\, fear\, burden\, or old story am I being invited to release? Where am I trying to control what I need to entrust to God? With that question held gently\, we will draw a card and listen for what rises: resonance\, resistance\, clarity\, discomfort\, surprise\, or grace. \nPsalm 46 invites us into the stillness where surrender becomes possible: “Be still\, and know that I am God.” In that stillness\, we remember that letting go does not mean falling apart. It may mean letting ourselves be held. Come with a question\, a burden\, a curiosity\, or simply an open heart.
