About the artist:

Sally Chapman

Sally Chapman is a photographer living in the Boston area. She earned a BFA in ceramics and photography from Michigan State University. For over twenty years she worked as a ceramic artist in Colorado showing extensively in New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming. Moving to California and Massachusetts her attention went to spiritual pursuits seeing that the desire to create art is the same as the desire for spirit.

The magic of capturing images at night inspired her to begin creating artwork again with the camera. Her photographic subjects are often of the urban landscape and neighborhoods. Recently she has been shown in exhibits at the Cambridge Art Association, Plymouth Center for the Arts, Springfield Art Association in Springfield, IL, Griffin Museum, Barrett Art Center, Fort Collins Lincoln Center, and Photographic Resource Center. She is a member of the Boston Camera Club, and Greater Boston Night Photographers.

Film Screening and Discussion: My Kid Could Paint That
Dec 19 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

The fascinating story of a 4 year old painter. She is producing paintings that are being purchased for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Her father is a painter as well and through watching her dad, she picked up the trait. The media has deemed her a “child prodigy” but this young 4 year old girl isn’t without controversy. People contest that a 4 year old isn’t capable of such work and her father is the one producing the art work for her. Is it genuine work by the little girl or is this a fraudulent scam by her father to make money? This documentary is neutral in its approach to find the truth. The audience is left to decide what to believe. A group discussion to share opinions and thoughts of who the true artist in the family is will follow the film.

My kid could paint that is the first in a series of monthly thought provoking films about art and artists.
