While some churches shun pop culture, Sanctuary UCC believes it provides us with amazing opportunities to reflect on who we are and what matters to us most. In our faith and film series, we invite our community together to reflect on recent films through the lens of spirituality.

Each month, we show a new hi-def film on our large movie screen. We offer comfortable seating and light snacks, followed by a lively discussion led by our brilliant film buffs and theologians, Anna and Chad Kidd.

BYO beer, wine, and soda. A free will offering will be collected after the film – please help support this vital ministry!

The Last Black Man in San Francisco | Faith and Film
Feb 21 @ 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Reservations Recommended: Text UCCFILM to 41444 or  igfn.us/form/MQcEQg

A man dreams of reclaiming the Victorian home his grandfather built in the heart of gentrified San Francisco, but as he struggles to reconnect with his family and reconstruct the community he longs for, his hopes blind him to the reality of his situation.

Reviews:
“The Last Black Man in San Francisco possessed a rare quality of being deeply authentic and idiosyncratic at the same time. I haven’t seen anything quite like it.”

“The whole film lifts and sighs as a lament for vanished birthrights, while coaxing these characters to cherish what they have.”
