While some churches shun pop culture, Sanctuary UCC believes it provides us with amazing opportunities to reflect on who we are and what matters to us most. In our faith and film series, we invite our community together to reflect on recent films through the lens of spirituality.

Each month, we show a new hi-def film on our large movie screen. We offer comfortable seating and light snacks, followed by a lively discussion led by our brilliant film buffs and theologians, Anna and Chad Kidd.

BYO beer, wine, and soda. A free will offering will be collected after the film – please help support this vital ministry!

Secrets Lie Between the Lines (Call for the film title – per licensing agreement)

The third of four films in our “Mortality at the Movies” Series (Sept – Dec); contemporary films that explore the value of life through the vantage point of death. Thought-provoking and often funny, these films remind us that while dying is a part of life, it need not keep us from living well.

Description: Joe’s literary star has blazed since he and Joan first met in the late 1950. Interweaving the story of the couple’s youthful passion and ambition with a portrait of a marriage, thirty-plus years later–this film offers a lifetime of shared compromises, secrets, betrayals, and mutual love. 85% Tomatometer

Reviews:
“An intelligent drama that treats its heroine with the respect she deserves.”
“…unexpectedly poignant and powerful…”
“Mesmeric…”
“Rare…”
