DESCRIPTION:It’s Ash Wednesday\, and God will meet you where you are. You are invited to wear your ashes\, to claim repentance\, grace\, and deep relationship with God for the challenges of your daily life. \n“Ashes to Go” is about bringing spirit\, belief\, and belonging out from behind church doors\, and into the places where we go every day.  It’s a simple event with deep meaning\, drawing on centuries of tradition and worship to provide a contemporary moment of grace. \nWe will bring blessings and ashes to the West Medford neighborhood and any who request delivery. There will be blessings and ashes available at the Sanctuary Storefront during these hours as well.

DESCRIPTION:Hear from the Artist about their inspiration and process and join the conversation about your own experience of their creativity. \nBYOB: Bring your own Beer\, Wine\, or Soda to this month’s new art Installation. \nAbout the Artist\nCITY OF GOD is an ongoing documentary project which celebrates the immigrant church in the city of Lynn\, Massachusetts.  As a gateway city with over seventy nations represented\,  Lynn is filled with God\, faith\, and lots of churches.  This project is funded through a pastoral study grant from the Louisville Institute and includes an advisory group of faith leaders from the city. \nSeveral portfolios are in development and include “Sacred Places” which catalogs the architecture of various ethnic congregations and “Public Faith” which documents personal expressions of faith found in Lynn.   A future portfolio will include the personal stories of many of the spiritual leaders here in the city.  You can follow the project on Instagram.  Sacred Places

Our clothes communicate to the world information about our age\, sex\, and class. They reflect our mood\, personality\, origin\, occupation\, tastes\, and erotic yearnings. They indicate whether we are comfortable conforming to societal standards. Clothing creates community\, signaling that we belong to a particular group. In turn\, it can create borders and boundaries between people. \nTo change clothes can be an important way to change one’s way of being in the world. Clothing doesn’t just shape identity. It reveals our identity to the people we meet. We all get dressed\, but how often do we think about what our clothes say?
