While some churches shun pop culture, Sanctuary UCC believes it provides us with amazing opportunities to reflect on who we are and what matters to us most. In our faith and film series, we invite our community together to reflect on recent films through the lens of spirituality.

Each month, we show a new hi-def film on our large movie screen. We offer comfortable seating and light snacks, followed by a lively discussion led by our brilliant film buffs and theologians, Anna and Chad Kidd.

BYO beer, wine, and soda. A free will offering will be collected after the film – please help support this vital ministry!

A Scientific Solution to Overpopulation? | Faith and Film
Sep 21 @ 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Reservations Recommended: app.mobilecause.com/form/MQcEQg

When scientists discover how to shrink humans to five inches tall as a solution to over-population, Paul (Matt Damon) and his wife Audrey (Kristen Wiig) decide to abandon their stressed lives in order to get small and move to a new downsized community–a choice that triggers life-changing adventures.

“A funny science fiction movie on the subject of shrinking people with great visuals and a terrific performances.”

“For a story that wants to give viewers a moral, universal fairy tale, its gratuitous moments sure restrict its potential audience.”

“A touching piece of high-concept science fiction with a twisted sense of humor.”

A Ghost Story | Faith and Film (first showing)
Oct 5 @ 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm

Reservations Recommended: Text UCCFILM to 41444 or  igfn.us/form/MQcEQg

Recently deceased, a ghost returns to his suburban home to console his bereft wife, only to find that in his spectral state, he has become unstuck in time, forced to watch passively as the life he knew and the woman he loves slowly slip away.

“This very special movie casts a fine, delicate spell; many may resist it, but those who go along with it may find themselves profoundly moved, transported to a soul-stirring, poetically cosmic place. “

“………..is not built to frighten. But it may indeed haunt you.”

“………….. proposes new concepts from a more meditative and profound perspective, seeking to alter conventions to generate something more than a fright, something that lasts.”
