Sanctuary UCC, in partnership with the Medford Office of Diversity, is proud to present a concert featuring Philip Hamilton and Friends on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Caron Theater at Medford High School. This concert is a fundraiser for Sanctuary UCC and is part of CACHE in Medford’s “Arts Across Medford” city-wide arts celebration this month.
Philip Hamilton is a native of West Medford and a graduate of Medford High School. He went on to study at prestigious schools including Middlebury College and Berklee College of Music. Hamilton’s music is a blend of jazz, rock and blues influenced by rhythms from around the corner and around the world. He is a Bessie award-winning vocalist, percussionist and composer, who has worked with acclaimed artists including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, the Pat Metheny Group, Special EFX, Spyro Gyra, Full Circle, Ron Brown/Evidence and Ballet Hispanico.
This concert will feature Gilberto, Hamilton’s 11-year-old son, who recently starred in the American tour of Broadway’s “School of Rock” as Freddy, the drummer. Gilberto earned rave reviews in various news outlets across the country.
This concert will also feature the premiere of “Portraits,” Hamilton’s collaboration with renowned Boston dancer and choreographer Adrienne Hawkins. Hawkins has been on the forefront of the Boston dance scene for over 35 years and is Artistic Director of Impulse Dance Company and Co-Artistic Director of Bass-Line Motion.
Vocalist and percussionist Gio Moretti will open the concert with a short set of her music. Based in New York City, this Italian-born songstress, blends rock and jazz to showcase her soaring and spiritual vocals.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, $50 for a family of up to five people and free for children ages 5 and under. They can be purchased here.
