Noticing: The Holy Art of Paying Attention

Last week, Trying invited us to risk being beginners. This week, the second book in Kobi Yamada’s Mentor Series asks us to slow down and look again. Noticing follows a young person and an older painter who sees much more than clouds, mountains, faces, and ordinary days. She sees possibility. She sees wonder. Most importantly, she sees the person standing beside her.

Scripture often begins in the same way: someone stops long enough to notice. Moses turns aside to look at a burning bush. Jesus looks closely at a person and loves them. Travelers discover that Christ has been walking beside them all along. Perhaps the miraculous is not as far away as we imagine. Perhaps grace is already here, waiting for our attention.

Join us for Soul Circle as we listen to Noticing and consider what we may be overlooking in the world, in one another, and in ourselves. Together, we will practice the holy art of paying attention and wonder what might become visible when we pause, look again, and allow ourselves to be amazed.
