Artist Statement:
Color, light, energy and movement all come to mind when thinking about why I create art. It is a non verbal and kinesthetic experience that is difficult to apply words to. I always have ideas, I always have paintings in my head and body that want to come out. The desire to create and paint is there everyday. Finding the time is not always easy but I am never at a loss for ideas. I simply love paint. I love mixing it, squishing it with my brush, challenging myself to come up with a new color combination and applying it to the canvas surface. I find it mesmerizing. It feeds my soul when I paint.
There are two things that I know for sure- I’m here on this planet to raise two children to be happy and healthy adults and I am here to create art. Here to paint, draw and sculpt. I’m here to make beauty with my art as well as ask questions, make inquiries, and challenge the way color was previously placed together. I have many desires with my art: I want my art to bring joy to the viewer. I want it to show beauty in a new way. I want my creations to be like no other. I want my hands to create something so original and unique. I want to fill people’s soul with beauty through color, form and light. When I complete a painting it feels so gratifying to bring something to life that did not exist before with my own two hands.
