FredHayes2Dear Friends,

I am so looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you!

I am new to the role of Pastor but not new to the world of churches and particularly churches and organizations in transition. After a period of discernment over the past several years I decided to answer God’s call to ministry in the congregation. My candidacy was approved by the Church and Ministry Committee of the Pilgrim Association and an Ecclesiastical Council last year which led to my ordination this past October.

I will share my time with Sanctuary UCC with Wollaston Congregational Church in Quincy where I am Interim Pastor.  I had been working during the past five years as a staff member of the Massachusetts Council of Churches. The council during that time went through a process of transition to a new executive director.

I have also served as the Minister of Adult Christian Education at the First Congregational Church of Milton. In the past I served as the Administrator of 2 churches during periods of growth and transition. My wife, Rev. Patricia Hayes, was prior to becoming Pastor at Christ Congregational Church in Brockton a consultant at the Alban Institute where she worked with many congregations. It’s nice to have a consultant nearby that I can call on.10600433_10204218492336577_8866103803905737243_n

While I grew up in Boston I have lived in Washington, DC and Newark, DE for many years but now reside in Brockton. I have studied at UMass Boston and the Catholic University of America as well as the Philadelphia School of Psychoanalysis and the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis.

I have a passion for teaching and am looking forward to the opportunity to provide stimulating and inspiring educational programs. I look forward to understanding the needs of Sanctuary UCC and working with you to develop new programs that will enrich us and attract newcomers.

Blessings, Rev. Fred Hayes
