am2pm is our leadership development and community service program for middle and high school youth. This program takes place each summer and combines direct service opportunities with education and reflection that provide a context for their service and equips participants with leadership skills needed to make a meaningful difference in the world.
For example, students will spend time at a meals program serving individuals who are unhoused. They will then have a Q&A session with the leader of a local homeless service provider coalition about the systemic issues that lead to homelessness. They will then receive training in community organizing principles to learn how to effectively lobby elected officials for policy changes that affect the unhoused community.
Not only will students earn all of the community service hours needed for graduation (Medford High School requires 60!!!) but they will leave the program armed with skills and experiences that will make them positive forces of good in our community.
