ABOUT AM2PM

👋 Hey middle and high schoolers! Looking for a summer program that combines community service, leadership development, and fun? Look no further! 💪

With AM2PM, you’ll have the chance to work alongside experienced mentors who will help you develop your own leadership and life skills while making a real impact in your community. From serving meals to those in need to learning about systemic issues that affect our world, you’ll gain valuable experience and knowledge that will equip you to make a meaningful difference in your classroom, community, and the world. 🌍

Plus, high schoolers will earn all of the community service hours needed for graduation (60 hours, anyone?), and have the opportunity to become a paid peer mentor for the middle school portion of our program. It’s a win-win! 😎

PROGRAM FAQ

Why is this program called "AM2PM"?

Sanctuary UCC has been running this program for close to 10 years. In it’s original iteration, students were engaged in acts of community service from morning till night (a.m. to p.m. – get it?) for an entire year. Over the years the program has evolved to include leadership development to equip students to not just serve their communities but to solve problems that their communities face.

When and where does AM2PM take place?

The AM2PM High School Program is 7 days long and runs from Friday, June 23 to Thursday, June 29.

The AM2PM Middle School Program 10 days long. Students can enroll either of our two sessions which run weekdays, Monday, July 10 to Friday, July 21 or Monday, July 24 to Friday, August 4.

Hillside Community Church (144 North Street in Medford) is our base of operations. While we travel to a lot of different service and learning sites, students will be dropped off and picked up there.

Who is eligible to participate in AM2PM?

Rising 6th-graders through 9th-graders are eligible to participate in our Middle School Program.

Rising 10th-graders through college freshmen are eligible to participate in our High School Program.

While our program is based in Medford, MA, it is open to students from throughout the Commonwealth.

Explain more about the peer mentor aspect of the program...

High Schoolers who complete the 7-day AM2PM program will have the opportunity to serve as a peer mentor during one of the following Middle School sessions. Peer mentors assist AM2PM staff as they guide Middle Schoolers through various community service projects and leadership development programs. For their efforts, peer mentors will receive a stipend of $500 per week.

How much does AM2PM cost?

To be accessible to all students, the cost of AM2PM depends on your ability to pay. We offer full pay, partial pay, and scholarship options.

The full pay option is $750 per students (Please note: we make no money from this program. This amount will cover his amount.)

Our partial pay option allows you to pay as much as can.

If you are income eligible (see this chart), our scholarship option will cover the full cost of the AM2PM program.

Why is a church running this program?

Serving our neighbors and making the world a better place is the heart of what we do as a church. Whether you are a person of faith or no faith at all, if you want to join us in this work, we’re glad to have you with us!
