Join in worship and join the story as the younger, the elder, the mama, and dad! We will look for God’s grace in it all. You may never hear this well-known story the same way again!
About Reverend Terri Powell Bracy
Rev. Terri was born and raised in Maine, moving to greater Boston in her early twenties, where she worked as a recruiter/personnel consultant interviewing and placing candidates in administrative and technical jobs in a wide range of business environments. In 2002, she changed direction and enrolled at Bangor Theological Seminary, where she completed both her undergraduate and Master of Divinity degrees. First licensed and then ordained, she served two United Church of Christ (UCC) congregations as Pastor and Teacher (one in Maine and one in Michigan) before retiring and returning to Winthrop to help care for her three young grandchildren.
Currently she works throughout greater Boston part-time with bereaved families to assist them in designing a Celebration of Life for their loved one. In 2009 she served as the foreperson on a jury that convicted a 16-year-old boy of second-degree murder and with the encouragement of the judge on the case began to visit him in prison, seeing first hand how understanding one’s culpability for a crime and accepting the consequences of one’s actions can raise awareness, bring inner peace and nurture compassion. Their relationship continues today and she is looking forward to his release in January 2023. That experience fostered an interest in restorative justice, which led her to accept a volunteer case coordinator position with Communities for Restorative Justice (C4RJ.org).
Terri has been a member of Sanctuary UCC since 2015 serving on the Member In Discernment/Student Ministry Internship Committee and assisting in screening and interviewing candidates for several staff positions.
