Church Words: Sin Selfie

Admit it. We’ve all taken selfies.

This instantly gratifying phenomenon allows us to put ourselves out there and manage our “impressions.” In fact, managing our reputations and how others experience us is a pretty normal ego instinct and likely explains why selfies have transformed our social culture.

So it’s not surprising that the apostle Paul also shared a self portrait with the world. But, like so many selfies, what he shares in Romans 7 isn’t all that pretty. Join us this Sunday for a Sin Selfie as we consider the Church Word: Sin; how the translation of sin has been misinterpreted, how the idea of sin is misused, and how the experience of sin might be reframed to become a source of inspiration!
